Pistol - Dry Practice

Dry practice is a way to train without using any ammo.
It's estimated that 80% of your shooting skill can come from dry practice (aka: dry firing).
The courses below will take a simple yet effective approach of how to rapidly become a better (and therefore: lethal) overall shooter via dry practice.

Pistol Dry Practice 0:

Prerequisites: If you can, you should become familiar with your weapon at home.

Topics to be covered:

  • Dry Practice – what and how?
  • Grip
  • Sight picture (aiming)
  • Trigger press
  • Intro to the draw

What to bring*:

  • NO AMMUNITION – besides for your EDC.
  • Modern semi-automatic pistol (no micro or pocket pistols)
  • 1 magazine
  • Sturdy belt
  • Appropriate footwear and clothing.
  • Water and snacks

Pistol Dry Practice 1:

Prerequisites: Safe manipulation of your weapon shall be 2nd nature and done with competence.

Topics to be covered:

  • Grip, sight picture, & trigger press review
  • Draw process from the holster
  • Reloading & clearing malfunctions
  • Speed vs Accuracy (yes, even in dry fire)
  • Moving & “shooting”

What to bring*:

  • NO AMMUNITION – besides for your EDC.
  • Modern semi-automatic pistol (no micro or pocket pistols)
  • A good holster that covers trigger guard (No leather, nylon or serpa holsters)
  • 2 magazines
  • Sturdy belt
  • Appropriate footwear and clothing.
  • Water and snacks

Pistol Dry Practice 2:

Prerequisites: Topics from Dry Practice 1 and safe manipulation of your weapon shall be 2nd nature.

Topics to be covered:

  • Speed vs Accuracy review
  • Sight confirmations: 1, 2, and 3
  • Moving and/while shooting
  • Moving while reloading
  • Target transitions

What to bring*:

  • NO AMMUNITION – besides for your EDC.
  • Modern semi-automatic pistol (no micro or pocket pistols)
  • A good holster that covers trigger guard (No leather, nylon or serpa holsters.
  • 2 magazines
  • Sturdy belt
  • Appropriate footwear and clothing.
  • Water and snacks
